Re: Gearcase and exhaust housing extension nuts coming loose
 

Dear Evinrude Owner®,

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of applicable laws and regulations. BRP is conducting a safety recall on certain Evinrude® E-TEC® G2 150-300 HP outboard models, built in June or July of 2017.

Our records show that you are the owner of an Evinrude® E-TEC® G2 150-300 HP outboard model equipped with the gearcase nuts affected by this recall.


Which models are involved?

Certain Evinrude® E-TEC® G2 150-300 HP outboard models, built in June or July of 2017.
 

What is the potential problem?

The nuts on the gearcase, and on the exhaust housing extension (if applicable), may become loose, allowing the gearcase assembly to detach from the outboard engine. In some circumstances, this situation may initiate an abrupt change in direction and loss of steering, which could cause serious injury or even death.


To confirm that your VIN (Vehicle identification Number) is affected, contact your authorized Evinrude / Johnson dealer or BRP at 1-844-345-4277 Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm CST.


What should you do?

Call an authorized Evinrude / Johnson dealer and make an appointment to have your Evinrude®E-TEC® G2 150-300 HP outboard models serviced.

The authorized dealers have been instructed and have the necessary parts in order to complete the service procedure. The service will be performed at no charge to you. This repair should take approximately less than an hour and a half.

As you are now aware of the details of this safety recall, if you continue to use your boat, be aware of the risks described herein.
