WHAT IS DIRECT INJECTION?
It’s the difference between us and them. It is a fuel-delivery technology that allows gasoline engines to burn more efficiently, resulting in more power, cleaner emissions, and increased fuel economy. Direct injection is such a superior technology, that almost every major car manufacturer includes this as part of their engine.
NOT YOUR GRANDFATHER'S TWO STROKE
Forget what you thought about two stroke. Our two stroke isn’t dirty. Not even close. E-TEC is a direct injection two-stroke system controlled by an engine management module. This means an exact amount of fuel/oil is injected directly into the cylinder, not the air or water. E-TEC engines are the cleanest outboards on the planet.
THE BRAINS OF THE ENGINE
The Engine Management Module in E-TEC engine generates its own electricity. It is a computer controlled fuel injection system that delivers amazing fuel efficiency, instant throttle response, smooth quiet performance, and unparalleled hydrocarbon emissions.

In 2018, Evinrude was inducted into the Space Technology Hall of Fame for commercializing NASA developed high strength, wear resistant aluminum alloy. Evinrude introduced pistons fabricated with the new aluminum alloy in 2003 and currently features the technology in its line of E-TEC engines.The space-age material enables higher wear resistance and greater stability at high temperatures.
