Sturtevant, Wis., Sept. 21, 2015 – Team Evinrude celebrated Mark Courts’ first Angler of the Year win at the NWT championship this weekend on the water at Devils Lake, North Dakota. Courts earned the final points required to push him into the top, while four other Evinrude anglers also leveraged the unrivaled performance, bold, breakthrough design and lifetime value of the Evinrude® E-TEC® G2™ engines. Ed Stachowski, Gary Maher, Robert Bruegger and Paul Steffen secured second through fourth places, respectively.

Courts, who has placed third in the NWT in the past, was proud of the title. “Winning means the world to me, to put it plain and simple,” said the Harris, Minnesota, pro. “To finally get it after 16 years, it just means the world. Throughout the tour everything has to go right, and that’s why I have the Evinrude E-TEC G2 on my transom. The power and performance of this engine are unmatched.”

Devils Lake, which hosted the inaugural NWT Championship in 2013, is unique in that it has no natural outlet. Fishing on the lake has changed over the past 10 years as elevation has soared. Recently, as the lake has receded, the walleye fishing has changed again.

“We’re proud of all our anglers and how well they performed at this tournament and all season long,” said Krista Heidgerken, senior communications specialist for Evinrude. “Mark’s Angler of the Year title is well deserved, and we’re happy to have so many anglers secure top spots in the tournament with the performance of Evinrude E-TEC G2 powering their success.”
