Sturtevant, Wis., Oct 1, 2015 – Evinrude® E-TEC® engines helped Manitou® Pontoon Boats clinch big wins this past weekend during Pontoon and Deck Boat Days at Four Winds Resort and Marina. The three outboard classes of competition included pontoons rigged with engines 150 hp and lower, engines 175 hp – 200 hp and those rigged with 225 hp and higher. Judges and race-watchers were impressed by the Evinrude E-TEC engines, whose unrivaled performance outshined the competition in each category.

Greg Heidelbech, Vice-President, Sales, Parts, Accessories and Clothing and Network Development with BRP’s Marine Propulsion Systems said, “The Pontoon and Deck Boat Barrel Race is one of the best ways for consumers to witness the unmatched power and performance of Evinrude E-TEC engines. Head-to-head races with the competition like this really put the engines to the test, and Evinrude, with pontoon partner Manitou, showcased the best that our products offer”.

The winning boat package in the 150 hp and lower category was a Manitou 20 Aurora Angler STD powered by an Evinrude E-TEC 150 H.O. In the 175 hp to 200 hp category it was a Manitou 21 Oasis SHP powered by an Evinrude E-TEC G2™ 200 H.O. In the 225 hp and above category, the winning Manitou’s 23 Encore RF SHP, powered by an Evinrude E-TEC G2 250 H.O. finished 5 full seconds ahead of the next closest boat in its category, which happened to be rigged with twin Yamaha® 250hp outboards.

The Evinrude E-TEC 150 HP has best-in-class torque, and is also the lightest 150hp outboard on the market. Evinrude E-TEC G2 engines range from 200 hp to 300 hp, delivering up to 20 percent more torque, up to15 percent better fuel efficiency and up to 75 percent fewer total regulated emissions than leading competitive four-stroke engines. In addition, The Evinrude E-TEC G2 offers an unmatched lifetime value, backed by one of the industry’s best warranties and five-years or 500 hours of no dealer-scheduled maintenance.
