Bombardier expands engine line-up with Evinrude E-TEC and direct injection offerings

Sturtevant, Wisconsin, October 4, 2003 - Bombardier Recreational Products today announced the addition of eight new models to its extensive Evinrude® outboard engine line up for 2004. With the new Evinrude E-TECTM outboard engines, Bombardier becomes the industry leader in cleaner, quieter, lighter weight, more powerful engines and advanced technology.

The new models include the following:

  • 40 hp Evinrude E-TEC
  • 50 hp Evinrude E-TEC
  • 60 hp Evinrude E-TEC
  • 75 hp Evinrude E-TEC
  • 90 hp Evinrude E-TEC
  • 100 hp Evinrude Direct Injection (DI) V-4
  • 150 hp Evinrude High Output (HO) DI V-6
  • 225 hp Evinrude HO DI V-6, 25-inch (635 mm) shaft

"Evinrude E-TEC technology promises to be the industry's greatest innovative breakthrough in marine engine technology," said Roch Lambert, vice president and general manager of the Boats and Outboard Engines division. "Evinrude E-TEC clearly sets new standards and is the beginning of a new era in the evolution of outboard engine technology.With our new line of reliable and powerful engines and our environmentally responsible technology, the consumer does not have to make any compromise," added Lambert.

The Evinrude E-TEC engines won a prestigious 2003 Innovation Award from the National Marine Manufacturers Association in February at the Miami International Boat Show. E-TEC engines usher in a whole new era in outboard engines, offering new standards in ease of use and operation, cleaner and quieter power plants with Bombardier superior durability, quality, reliability and unique styling. E-TEC leads marine. Evinrude outboard engines are designed to satisfy the most demanding boater that simply expects the best of all possible worlds from fuel efficiency to sound, to maintenance.

On the DI side, the renowned Evinrude High Output performance outboard engine line-up has been further extended to the new 150 HO version. This lightweight, compact and high performance engine features the popular stars and stripes graphics and a high performance gearcase suited for high speed applications.

In response to consumer and dealer demand, a new 100 hp DI engine, based on the trusted V 4 60 degree platform, has broadened the Evinrude Direct Injection line-up with a high performance durable, reliable and very compact engine.

Standard on Evinrude outboard engines is the long-life DeepGuardT corrosion protection to ensure maximum durability and reliability. Plus, every engine comes with an industry leading three-year non-declining limited warranty for recreational use.
