Evinrude Outboard Engines grabs prestigious Effie Award for advertising
Sturtevant, Wis., June 16, 2009 – The 2008 Evinrude Spend More Time on the Water advertising campaign has won the Silver Effie Award, presented at an event held recently in New York City.
The Effie, known globally as one of the most prestigious awards in the industry, honours the most significant achievement in advertising: results. It recognizes creative ideas and communication tools that contribute to a brand's success. Evinrude’s campaign won the Silver Award in the Leisure Products category.
“This is quite an achievement in a highly competitive category of brands,” stated Roch Lambert, vice president – general manager, Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo and Evinrude division. “It is truly a testament to the strong strategic thinking and research by the marketing team that goes into every program developed for Evinrude E-TEC. Since the award is based on results, the Effie Award validates our efforts in launching effective marketing programs,” added Lambert. Competing brands in the same category were Nike Bauer Hockey and Nintendo DS. The Spend More Time on the Water campaign was developed by Evinrude’s advertising partner, Milwaukee-based Cramer-Krasselt. Evinrude’s current marketing program includes various on-line advertising initiatives, a 60-second version of the Evinrude E-TEC Challenge infomercial, and a new microsite promoting the benefits of repowering with Evinrude E-TEC, www.repowerwithevinrude.com.
Evinrude continues to launch consumer retail incentives as well as dealer wholesale programs during these challenging economic times. “It is important to maintain your current customer base and protect your valuable dealer network during good times and bad,” declared Lambert. “The importance of developing successful selling programs remains a top priority,” he concluded.
In addition to receiving the Silver Effie Award, Evinrude was also recently ranked highest in customer satisfaction in J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Marine Engine Competitive Information StudySM. Receiving this award reinforces the benefits of owning an Evinrude E-TEC outboard engine. People want to spend more time on the water. Evinrude's reputation for dependability, quality and reliability, coupled with the fact that Evinrude E-TEC is the only outboard with no dealer-scheduled maintenance for 3 years or 300 hours, makes the decision to power with Evinrude an easy one. Having the lowest operating costs of any outboard engine means that powering with an Evinrude E-TEC can save consumers up to $1,600 per year in fuel and maintenance costs.
BRP's Evinrude E-TEC engine line-up now includes 110 engine models from 25- to 300-horsepower. All engines are available at Evinrude dealerships worldwide.
