Win makes three out of four for Evinrude power
Sturtevant, Wis., December 15, 2006 – BRP's Evinrude-powered Team Keephers won the inaugural FLW Striper Series Championship in Virginia Beach, Va. on Saturday, December 9. Powered by twin Evinrude® E-TEC® outboard engines, Team Keephers, captained by Mathew Fleisher of Niantic, Conn., won a $15,000 contingency bonus from BRP.
"This is a perfect success story for Team Keephers and our Evinrude contingency bonus program," said Roch Lambert, vice president and general manager, Outboard Engines at BRP. "The striper championship is a new tournament for which Mathew purchased a new boat and Evinrude E-TEC engine package. The team capitalized on the no engine break-in advantage of our Evinrude E-TEC outboards – and on the contingency program, winning them the welldeserved bonus money."
"When they announced the start up of this circuit, we were so excited that I went to Atlantic Outboard and bought a new Hydra-Sports boat with twin Evinrude outboards the next day. We're so happy with how the boat and the engines performed. We're definitely glad we bought them!" Team Keephers includes Fleisher, his wife, Amy, and Mark and Amy Brett of Old Lyme, Conn.
This championship win marks three out of four Evinrude-powered wins for the FLW saltwater circuits. Team Force 10 won the Kingfish Series Championship, and the Evinrude/Ranger team of Blair Wiggins and Tad Vandemark won the Redfish Series Championship.
BRP is a major sponsor of the FLW Outdoors including support of the contingency payouts for the Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Tour, Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Series and Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series through awards of cash and products. Anglers qualify for the program by competing in the FLW tournaments powered by Evinrude E-TEC or Evinrude DI outboard engines, model year 2004 or newer, and participate in FLW Pro Kingfish and regional, all Pro Southern Kingfish Association and select regional events, all FLW Redfish events, and all ESPN Redfish Cup tour events.
