U.S. EPA Award-Winning Evinrude E-TEC Outboards now available from 40 - 250 HP
Miami, Florida, February 16, 2006 – Bombardier Recreational Products’ (BRP) Evinrude® E-TEC® outboard engines are now available from 40 through 250 horsepower. All feature the advanced cleaner two-stroke direct injection technology credited by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its Clean Air Technology.
For the first time ever, EPA's Clean Air Technology Excellence Award was given to a marine engine in 2005. This prestigious recognition for improving air quality and offering a safer boating environment confirmed that Evinrude E-TEC technology produces lower exhaust emissions, including lower carbon monoxide emissions, than four-stroke engines and meets stringent 2006 EPA, European Union (EU), and 2008 California Air Resources Board (CARB) 3-Star ultra-low emissions standards.
All E-TEC outboards, including the new compact, lightweight V4 and V6 engine platforms deliver the advanced features of Evinrude E-TEC engines. They offer excellent fuel economy and strong performance while providing cleaner emissions than four-strokes, no scheduled dealer maintenance for three years or 300-hours of use, industry-leading quality components, and quiet, superior power and performance.
Evinrude E-TEC outboard engines are available in the following horsepower platforms: in-line 2- cylinder 40, 50, and 60-hp; in-line 3-cylinder 75 and 90-hp; V4 115-hp; V6, 2.6 liter, 150, 150 HO,175, and 200-hp; V6, 3.3 liter, 200 HO, 225, 225 HO, and 250-hp models.
Evinrude/Johnson Genuine Parts and Accessories
All Evinrude/Johnson® Genuine Parts and Accessories are designed to be compatible with Evinrude E-TEC outboard engines. Consumers should contact a local BRP Evinrude/Johnson Genuine Parts dealership for pricing. New parts and accessories for 2006 include the following:
Versatile Surface Mount Remote Control
An improved surface mount remote control provides better boating performance and reliability. The BRP remote control is designed for more positive shifting and smoother throttle operation. It has been designed with new materials to be more durable and easier to rig for the dealer. The remote control handle features an exclusive design enabling right or left-hand installation along with a new thumb operated trim switch that is easier to use. The kit includes a key switch, emergency lanyard, warm-up lever, start-in-gear prevention switch, neutral lock and throttle friction adjustment, and warning horn. The control can be used on 1996 and newer boat models and is available with or without a trim switch.
Easy-to-Operate Tiller Handles
Redesigned outboard engine tiller handles are available for application on the Evinrude E-TEC 40 through 115-hp outboards. The handles feature ergonomic engineering with the ability to be mounted in three locations and a variety of height adjustments for the ultimate user-comfort. Operation is further enhanced with an easy and comfortable trim switch located on the end of the twist grip for on-the-go, one-handed use. The added convenience of a forward mounted shift lever provides better accessibility and increased control for docking maneuvers. Evinrude E-TEC tiller handles will be available in blue for 20" models and in white for 25" models.
I-Command Instruments for Evinrude E-TEC
I-Command instruments are designed specifically for the NMEA 2000‡ certified Evinrude E-TEC V4 and V6 engines, providing enhanced display of engine and boat performance information. Multiple functions are integrated into an easy-to-use tachometer and speedometer to display all data: RPM, MPH, volts, fuel level, engine trim, oil level, water pressure, engine hours, engine diagnostics, and fuel flow.
I-Command plug and play technology is based on the NMEA 2000 standard, permitting a simpler and faster transfer of information from engine and boat sensors. This design allows individual instruments to be easily added for separate displays and means multiple electronics like an NMEA 2000 GPS or fish locator can be easily added to the network.
I-Command instruments are now available in two distinct styles.
I-Command Classic provides a traditional analog sweep needle display of RPM and speed on a large easy-to-view LCD digital window.
I-Command Digital features a full LCD page using pixels and digital technology to illustrate the gauge image. The display utilizes up to 64 pieces of important engine and boat information.
Rebel™ Propellers
With the addition of the Rebel, BRP now offers eight propeller models in its performance matched prop line, meeting every boat application. The new Rebel propellers are designed and engineered to deliver even greater fuel economy plus improved mid-range and top-end performance on the 60 and 90-degree V6 Evinrude E-TEC engines. These new 3-blade propellers are designed with a large diameter and efficient blade contour to provide faster speeds at lower RPM, improved fuel economy for more miles per gallon, increased top end speed, and a longer cruise range. The Rebel propellers are made of highly polished stainless steel with right-hand and left-hand rotation available. Six pitches are offered: 15 in (380 mm), 17 in (432 mm), 19 in (483 mm), 21 in (533 mm), 23 in (584 mm), and 25 in (635 mm).
